If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you’ll know that I’ve been sharing some of my ideas for our Master Bedroom Refresh. And if you’ve missed it, you can head to my Instagram profile and click on the “home” icon to watch my bedroom tour and hear some of my plans.
I’ve been scouring the internet, sourcing out things and have finally found a bunch of items (on a budget!) that form the basic concept of what I want our bedroom to look like. Think: serene coastal meets rustic farmhouse. Below is a clickable table with links to all my picks! I also had a lot of questions about some of the items we currently have in our bedroom that we won’t be switching out (for example, the bed, the bench and light fixture) so I’ve also linked similar items to what we already have, below. Living in Canada, and specifically Winnipeg, we don’t have as many stores to seek out decor items as other larger cities have. Because of this, I turn to the internet to find a lot of the items I want. I haven’t shopped at Wayfair before but I have heard a lot of great things from many friends about their experiences, so I am very excited to partner with them on this project and get a few new pieces from Wayfair.ca for our bedroom as part of my refresh!
Overall, I am sticking with my usual bright, white decor theme. I originally was going to be adventurous and add in some navy or blush tones, specifically in a rug, but I decided that it wasn’t the best option for me as I plan to keep the rug for a while. Using colours in a throw pillow, blanket, art or accessories is a much better option for me because they are cheaper items that I can switch out more easily down the road if I tire of it. So far, as you can see below, I’ve selected only neutrals for the room but a girl can change her mind so we’ll see if I add in some colour over the next couple of weeks!
I’ve spent the past few years decorating our kid’s bedrooms and I specifically love the serene and coastal feeling that my son’s nursery has. With that in mind, I want to add in some coastal feeling elements in the art and accessories and by adding in a natural looking chair in the corner of our room by the barn door. I’m loving the rattan/wicker trend that’s happening right now so I’m thinking one in either a white or a brown tone is what we’ll go with. To make it feel a bit more serene, I also want to increase the layers and textures in the room. Grounding the space with a cozy, three dimensional rug like the one below and adding in some new bedding elements to create layers, I think will achieve this!
The only piece I am still struggling with is the the feature I want to add in on the wall behind the headboard. I’m torn between adding in a neutral wallpaper, a trim detail in white, or both! Either way, I’ll be doing something there and will definitely share what I picked once I make my final decision!
These are the ideas I have right now but like I said before, a girl can change her mind! I’m also big on seeing a piece I love and changing my plan around to accommodate it. I’ve already ordered both the nightstands and the rug above so those pieces I for sure won’t be changing. They should be arriving in the next couple of weeks and I am so excited to see them in person! I hope to have everything completed in November and I’ll definitely do a reveal once it’s all done but in the meantime, follow along on my Instagram where I’ll show the progress along the way!
