A Floral Woodland First Birthday

FullSizeRender

When I started envisioning a theme for Emsley’s first birthday party I was instantly drawn to thoughts of flowers. Since she was born in July picking a theme related to summer and the feeling of being outside felt totally appropriate. I loved the idea of a ‘Garden Tea Party’ theme in our backyard but right now our backyard lacks a fence and is full of weeds and mud (the joys of a new build!). A Garden Tea Party theme at our place could have felt really authentic but not exactly the pretty Secret Garden-esque feel that I was going for. Also, weather would have been something that I needed to consider when planning an outdoor party so I figured I would err on the side of caution and keep things indoors. Playing off my original idea of a ‘Garden Tea Party’ I decided to create a ‘Floral Woodland’ theme instead. That way I could still include lots of flowers but also mix in some wood elements, which if you’ve seen pictures of our house, I absolutely love!

Top 5 Favourite Teethers

Slide1

Now that Ems has cut not only her first tooth (about one month ago) but just this past weekend cut her second tooth, we are in full on teething mode! These are my top 5 favourite teethers that I have found so far for her. If anyone has any other favourites, please feel free to share them as I will have to grow this collection faster than the rest of her teeth, which are quickly popping up!

Baby’s First Christmas

IMG_3532 Christmas has and always will be a special time of year for us to spend with family. I have always been someone who loves engaging in traditions and the Christmas season is a time of year that is filled with many for us. I can’t wait for Emsley to be a bit older so we can create new traditions with her and watch her as she anticipates this season. It feels like yesterday that we were sharing our exciting news with our families of being pregnant with our little “blueberry” exactly one year ago today. Crazy to think that it has been a whole year since we were discussing how different this Christmas would be having a little baby around and here we are now living it! Emsley brings us so much joy each and everyday but it’s on holidays and events like Christmas that we gather with family and are able to see the joy that she brings to everyone she encounters. There is nothing greater than being her parents and witnessing this!

I don’t ever really need an excuse to play dress up with my babe but the Christmas season does excite me as there is nothing cuter than seeing babies in dresses, frills and “Santa” apparel. I realize that Emsley is only going to be this little for so long and therefore I feel it’s important to not only enjoy dressing her (while she still lets me!) but also to capture all these special moments, as I am already seeing how fast time is passing since she made her arrival in this world.

Merry First Christmas baby girl!

Baby Girl Fall Favourites

Slide1

Fall is my absolute favourite time of year to shop for clothing. As the temperatures change and the leaves turn, I gravitate to the beauty of the indoors to purchase chunky knits, large scarves and layers upon layers which make my heart sing and my wallet empty! This year having a little a girl to shop for has given me a whole new reason to be excited about fall shopping, and has really cut down my own personal shopping (baby clothes are just so much more fun to buy, aren’t they?). Even better is that Emsley is finally starting to fit into 0-3 month clothing which is very exciting as it has opened up a whole new shopping world for this momma! Here are a few of my favourite fall items that I have purchased for her so far!
